OnePlus 13: Rumors Point to Major Upgrades

Over three months ago, OnePlus launched its flagship phone, the OnePlus 12, in China. By January, it was available worldwide. Recently, there’s been a lot of buzz about the upcoming OnePlus 13. This new model is expected to feature major updates, including a fresh design and the newest Qualcomm processor. Like the OnePlus 12, the OnePlus 13 is set to debut in China first and should arrive in India shortly after, later this year.

As the rumored launch of the OnePlus 13 gets closer, excitement and speculation are growing. Here’s what we might expect from the new smartphone.

Design and display enhancements

OnePlus is rumored to be making major changes to the design of its upcoming flagship phone. Leaked photos show that the usual circular camera setup might be replaced with a new, vertically aligned design in the top-left corner of the phone. This redesign is not just for looks; it could also make the phone more comfortable to hold. There might also be small design changes like a thicker ring around the main camera, which could make the phone look even better.

According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the OnePlus 13 might have a micro-curved WQHD+ display. OnePlus is known for its high-quality OLED screens, and the OnePlus 13’s display is expected to be exceptional. Additionally, it could feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner beneath the screen, providing quicker and more reliable biometric authentication than the optical sensors currently used.

Expected performance and camera upgrades

The OnePlus 13 is expected to feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. This new chipset should improve speed, efficiency, and how well the device manages heat, leading to a smoother and cooler performance when it’s being used heavily. It’s also likely to have at least 12 GB of RAM and quick UFS 4.0 storage, which means a significant boost in overall performance.

The OnePlus 13 is likely to have the same camera sensors as the OnePlus 12, but with a redesigned setup. It’s expected to feature a 50-megapixel main camera, along with a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens. Although there are rumors about a new camera module design, there don’t seem to be significant changes in the sensor technology itself. However, the ongoing partnership with Hasselblad should continue to improve image processing and color accuracy.

Battery and Charging

OnePlus is renowned for its quick charging features. The upcoming OnePlus 13 is expected to continue this trend, according to insider Yogesh Brar. The phone is likely to have a 5400 mAh battery and support fast 100W wired charging. This means it can charge very quickly, reducing wait times for busy users.

Expected price and launch timeline

OnePlus is known for its affordably priced phones, which often cost less than other top-tier models with similar features. Although specific prices for the OnePlus 13 haven’t been announced yet, it’s anticipated that OnePlus will keep up with its tradition of offering good value for money. The release of the new phone is expected by October 2024.

Keep in mind that these details are still speculative, as the brand hasn’t officially confirmed much about the device. We’ll have more information when the phone launches later this year.
