Stefon Diggs has been traded for the second time in his career.

Stefon Diggs to Texans for 2025 Second-Round

The Buffalo Bills are swapping Diggs to the Houston Texans. In return, they’re getting a second-round pick in 2025. Along with Diggs, they’re giving the Texans a sixth-round pick in 2024 and a fifth-round pick in 2025. This news comes from NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, who got the scoop from sources familiar with the situation. The Bills have confirmed the trade.

After being traded from Minnesota in 2020, Diggs played four seasons in Buffalo. In each of those seasons, he caught over 1,100 yards worth of passes. In his first season with quarterback Josh Allen, Diggs topped the NFL with 127 catches and 1,535 receiving yards.

I’d like to express my deep admiration and fondness for Buffalo. I had four amazing years there, and the city and the Bills organization welcomed me warmly. I’ll always be thankful to everyone there. I made some great memories with some amazing guys, and Buffalo will always hold a special place in my heart. Bills fans, you made the games unforgettable with your energy. Sadly, my time with the Bills has come to an end for now, but I hope to return one day. #14.”

The Texans just got a big boost by adding Diggs to their team. He’s a great player who will help their quarterback, Stroud, a lot. Diggs is 30 years old and really good at getting past defenders to catch the ball. Now, the Texans have Diggs, Collins, and Dell, who together make one of the best groups of receivers in the NFL. Having Diggs on the team means Stroud can rely on him to catch passes. With these three guys, the Texans’ offense is going to be tough for other teams to handle.

Having Diggs on the team will make it easier for the new running back, Joe Mixon, to find openings in the defense. With tight end Dalton Schultz and a strong offensive line, the Houston offense looks really good for the upcoming 2024 season.

Give credit to Nick Caserio, the general manager, for making smart moves this offseason to help his young Pro Bowl quarterback. With these moves, Stroud, the quarterback, is in a good position to keep getting better after a great first year in the NFL.

In Buffalo, the team appeared ready to find a new receiver because the current one was unpredictable.

During his time in Buffalo, Diggs got a lot of passes thrown his way by Allen. Diggs managed to gain 5,372 yards and score 37 touchdowns in four seasons.

After Ken Dorsey got fired and Joe Brady became the new offensive coordinator last season, Diggs didn’t play as much. In the last seven regular season games and two playoff games, he never gained 100 yards, and he didn’t play as often as before, dropping from about 90% of the time to around 60%.

Last offseason, there was some drama involving Diggs missing part of mandatory minicamp. This made Sean McDermott, the coach, worried about Diggs not being there. Although they moved past this issue, things between Diggs and the team never felt quite right.

The Buffalo Bills traded Stefon Diggs even though it meant they would have to pay over $31 million for him, which they couldn’t avoid. They didn’t even get a draft pick in return for the trade, so it seems they really wanted to get rid of him.

“We just want to acknowledge the time Stef spent with our team. We don’t go into detail about every decision we make. Every move, including trading players or bringing in new ones, is carefully considered. We always aim to make the best choices for the Bills. It’s not easy, but we do it with the team’s best interests at heart. So, yes, we made the move.”

Trading Digs to Houston creates a big problem for Buffalo’s receivers, especially since they lost Gabe Davis to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now, Allen’s main options are Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, K.J. Hamler, and Justin Shorter.

Many predictions said the Bills would pick a top receiver in the first round. Now, with the news about digs, those predictions will probably increase.

Getting rid of Diggs is part of the big changes happening for the Buffalo Bills this offseason. They’ve also said goodbye to players like Davis, Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer, and Tre’Davious White.

In 2024, the Bills team looks different. They traded, which shows big changes happening!
