In Loudonville, New York, the Siena women’s lacrosse team had an amazing day at Hickey Field on Saturday. He broke records and nothing could stop him.
Saints Break Records in Big Win Over Rider
The Saints set a new record for the biggest win in their 28-year history by defeating Rider by a massive score of 22–4.
Before this, the largest margin of victory was 17 goals, which happened twice. Sarah Irish’s goal with just three seconds remaining increased the lead to 18, guaranteeing a new record.
On March 13, 2019, the team scored 22 goals in a game against Hartford, tying the program’s record for most goals in a game.
Siena took complete control of the game and won 26 out of 30 draw controls.
In one game, Taryn Asselin, a senior, broke a record by getting 15 draw controls, the most ever for our team in a single game.
Earlier this season, Asselin equaled the record in a game against Le Moyne on March 2. She came close to breaking the record again on February 17 by scoring 12 points in a win against the #18 Army West Point team.
In their first season of women’s lacrosse, the Broncs have started strong with a record of 6 wins and 3 losses, but they lost their first conference game. They have a phenomenal player named Katie Walsh who is really good in possession of the ball, and she is also one of the top scorers in the league.
Before playing against the Saints, Walsh would typically score around 3.13 goals per game and gain more than seven draw controls. However, in the game against the Saints, he only managed to gain two draw controls and score one goal.
Junior Grace Dobrzynski led the Saints’ attack with eight points, two goals and a career-high six assists. Junior Kelly Logue also had a stellar performance and scored over 100 career points with three goals and three assists in a six-point day.

Siena continued to dominate in the second half, scoring 9 points while the Bronx managed to score only 1 point in the rest of the game.
Twelve Saints scored, three of whom scored hat-tricks: Logue, Nicholson and Gilhooley.
Graduate student Jenna Colabufo led the defense with four turnovers, bringing her career total to 50 for the Saints.
Rider, who usually scores around 15 goals per game and is second in the MAAC, managed to take only nine shots, with only six of those being on target.
Siena has won four games in a row and five of its last six. They have also prevented their opponents from scoring more than ten points in all five of those wins.
