Josh Jacobs will not return in time for Christmas.
Raiders vs. Chiefs
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, Josh Jacobs is set to sit out his second consecutive game as the Las Vegas Raiders take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, kicking off a holiday tripleheader.
The Raiders later declared Jacobs officially inactive.
In Week 15, Jacobs was absent due to a quad injury. For Week 16, he was questionable again due to a persistent quad injury and an additional illness.

Without Jacobs, the Raiders dominated in a 63–21 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, expecting a similar extraordinary performance against the Chiefs may be overly optimistic.
By Week 15, Jacobs took over the majority of the Raiders’ responsibilities.
He accumulated 805 rushing yards, 742 more than the team’s second leading rusher. Despite this, Las Vegas performed admirably in the ground game and all aspects of the game against the Chargers. Zamir White’s impressive 69 yards on 17 carries led the team’s ground attack, resulting in 124 total yards.
White, Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden are expected to lead a committee-based strategy against the Chiefs.
The Raiders (6-8) begin their matchup against the Chiefs (9-5) at 1 p.m. ET on Monday.
