NFL MVP Cam Newton in Confrontation- Newton, selected as the No. 1 overall pick out of Auburn in 2011, appeared to be avoiding pulling any punches, as indicated by a video that surfaced Sunday. Instead, he appears to be defending himself against three others.
On Sunday, a video circulated purportedly shows 2015 NFL Most Valuable Player Cam Newton getting into a scuffle at a 7-on-7 youth football tournament in Atlanta.
In the footage, Newton, wearing his signature custom hat, faces confrontation as three men push him near a staircase. The situation escalates into pushing, shoving and scuffling and eventually leads to the fence line. The video is less than half a minute long, as a police officer and event security officer intervene and defuse the brawl that broke out at the WeBall Sports x DynastyEu 7v7 tournament held at B.E.S.T. Academy.
In the video, Newton, selected as the No. 1 overall pick out of Auburn in 2011, is seen not throwing any punches and is seen defensively tackling three other men. Although one punch is aimed at Newton, it remains uncertain whether it connects with the former quarterback.
The reason for the dispute is not clear.
Newton, who hails from Atlanta, oversees C1N, an organization founded in 2021 that primarily aims to hone the soccer skills of young athletes. According to Newton’s website, the organization aims to provide top-level competitive opportunities, through opportunities such as 7-on-7 tournaments and mixed events. The stated mission of the venture is to create an environment conducive to holistic development and progress both in sports and life, thereby empowering budding athletes to realize their ambitions on and off the field.

Cam Newton competes in tournaments across the country.
Newton’s team, consisting of players aged 15 and under, won the championship title in this competition.
Attempts to contact Newton’s representatives Sunday evening were unsuccessful.
Newton’s last NFL stint was in 2021 with the Carolina Panthers, the franchise that originally drafted him, and he has not played in the league since.
During his 11-season tenure in the NFL, Cam Newton amassed over 32,000 passing yards and 194 touchdowns. Additionally, he rushed for 75 touchdowns while playing for the Panthers and New England Patriots.
