The Olympic champion had to skip the Ostrava Golden Spike as a precaution, but he came back and won a gold medal in Finland this week.

Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra intends to deal with his ongoing problem with the muscles in his inner thighs, but he’s putting off addressing it until after he defends his title at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The adductor muscles are found on the inner thighs and stretch from the pelvic bone to the knee. They help move the hip and leg inward to stabilize the torso.

Chopra, who holds both the Olympic and world titles, had to withdraw from the Ostrava Golden Spike meet in Czechia last month as a precaution. He felt discomfort in his adductor muscles during a training session.

“Every year, I experience problems with my adductor muscles. After the Olympics, I plan to consult different doctors about it,” Chopra said, according to PTI.

Neeraj Chopra, who is 26 years old, competed again at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland last Tuesday. He won his first-ever gold medal at this event by throwing the javelin 85.97 meters on his third try.

Chopra said he was happy with his leg muscle today because the weather was good, a bit chilly with the wind. He could do all six throws.

Chopra competed in his third event of 2024 at the Paavo Nurmi Games. Earlier, he took second place at the Doha Diamond League with a throw of 88.36m.

Chopra threw his best at 82.27 meters at the National Federation Cup 2024 in India, marking his return to domestic competitions for the first time since the Tokyo Olympics and securing the top spot.

“At first, I wanted to compete more this season, but I couldn’t because of my minor injuries,” he explained.

Neeraj Chopra is currently in Europe training for the Paris 2024 Olympics with his coach Klaus Bartonietz and physiotherapist Ishaan Marwaha.

“I’ve just arrived from Kuortane and I’m heading to Saarbrücken, Germany, and possibly Turkey just before the Olympics. I’ll focus on staying healthy in the coming weeks so that I can perform my best in the competitions.”

Chopra plans to participate in the Paris Diamond League on July 7th.
