India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series by defeating Afghanistan by six wickets in the second T20 match. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Afghanistan scored a total of 172 runs in 20 overs. Chasing the target, India scored 173 runs at the loss of four wickets in 15.4 overs. The third and last match of the series will be played in Bengaluru on 17 January.

Yashasvi and Shivam’s half-centuries

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dubey played brilliant innings for Team India. Yashasvi scored the highest score of 68 runs, while Shivam Dubey remained unbeaten after scoring 63 runs. He played a quick inning of 32 balls and hit five fours and four sixes. Shivam’s strike rate was 196.88.

Kohli’s stormy innings

Virat Kohli returned after 14 months and scored 29 runs in 16 balls at a strike rate of 181.25. Rohit Sharma and Jitesh Sharma could not open their accounts. Rinku Singh remained unbeaten after scoring nine runs. For Afghanistan, Karim Janat took two wickets, while Fazalhaq Farooqui and Naveen-ul-Haq took one wicket each.

Arshdeep took three wickets

Gulbadin Naib scored the highest score of 57 runs for Afghanistan. Najibullah Zadran contributed 23 runs, Mujeeb ur Rehman contributed 21 runs and Karim Janat contributed 20 runs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mohammad Nabi both scored 14 runs each. Captain Ibrahim Zadran scored eight runs, while Azmatullah Omarzai managed two runs before being dismissed.
