The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted “light to moderate rain” in Mumbai and Delhi in the next few hours, along with issuing a yellow alert for Mumbai.
In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), the IMD said, “Thunderstorms and light to moderate rain are likely at a few places in Chandrapur and at isolated places in Bhandara, Yavatmal, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Gondia, Nagpur and Amravati districts of Vidarbha.”
The post also said, “Very light to light rain is expected at isolated places over Akola district of Vidarbha.” Hence, some areas of Maharashtra will receive rain in the next three hours.
The weather department has predicted light to moderate rain with light thunderstorms and lightning in Delhi-NCR. Areas likely to be affected include Seemapuri, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Manesar, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Rampur, Pilkhua, Hapur, Gulauti, Sambhal, Bilari, Milak, Secunderabad, Chandausi, Bulandshahr, Bahjoi, Dibai, Narora, Sahaswan, Atrauli, Aligarh, Iglas, Sikandra Rao, Raya, Hathras, Jalesar (UP), Sidhmukh, Bhiwadi, Laxmangarh and Rajgarh (Rajasthan).

The weather agency has warned of extremely heavy rains in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand and issued a red alert for these states. Meanwhile, the IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

According to the IMD press release, “heavy rains” are expected in Assam and Meghalaya over the next four days. The IMD has also forecast rains in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura till July 23.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on July 21 announced that extremely heavy rainfall is likely at some places over Uttarakhand on July 22. Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at some places over West Uttar Pradesh on July 22, East Rajasthan on July 23 and Himachal Pradesh on July 22 and 23. Uttarakhand is also likely to receive heavy rainfall from July 23 to 25.
The weather department has predicted rain in the following areas: Himachal Pradesh on July 24 and 25, Punjab and Haryana by July 23, Uttar Pradesh over the next three days, Rajasthan by July 25, Jammu and Kashmir on July 23 and 24
