Rod Wave got arrested in Manatee County, Florida for having a gun or bullets, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Rapper Rod Wave Faces Arrest
Police say that Rod, the rapper and singer whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, was arrested because they think he was part of a shooting involving gangs in Florida. The shooting happened on March 31st and left four people injured.
According to Petersburg police, there was a fight among some men, and shots were fired. Four people were hurt: three men in their 20s and a 17-year-old girl. Luckily, their injuries weren’t life-threatening. Rod, one of the people involved, was arrested and taken to Manatee County Jail. His lawyers say he’s not a convicted felon, despite what the jail records show. They also say he didn’t have any ammunition, despite what the police say.
“Rod was arrested and held without any proof of him doing anything wrong,” lawyers Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin said on Instagram. “The police said he had bullets although he didn’t. They also said he was a criminal, but a quick check would’ve shown he wasn’t. The prosecutor and judge quickly realized there was no evidence to support the charge, so they let him go on the same day.”

In 2022, Rod got arrested for allegedly choking his ex-girlfriend during an argument. His lawyer, Cohen, said it was just a misunderstanding between them. Despite this trouble, Rod released his second album, “Beautiful Mind,” which became a hit on the Billboard 200 chart. The next year, he dropped another album called “Nostalgia,” featuring a song called “Turks & Caicos” with 21 Savage. This song reached No. 1 on the charts for two weeks.
