Israeli security forces have rescued four hostages who were kidnapped by Hamas from the Nova music festival on October 7. This is the second time in eight months that hostages have been rescued alive during Israel’s ongoing conflict with Gaza.

The Israel Defense Forces, Israel Securities Authority, and Israel Police announced that they have rescued four people: Almog Meir Jan (21), Andrey Kozlov (27), Shlomi Ziv (40), and Noa Argamani (25). They have been taken to Sheba Tel-HaShomer Medical Center near Tel Aviv and are in good health.

Argamani became well-known during the hostage crisis after a distressing video of her kidnapping was shared online. On Saturday, a video from the Israeli prime minister’s spokesperson showed Argamani hugging her father when they were reunited.

“This is the happiest day of our lives,” said Yan Gorjaltsan, Argamani’s friend. He and some friends were traveling to Tel Aviv to see her. “You can’t imagine how happy we are,” he added.

Meir Jan, who left the military a few months before, was captured while trying to escape the Nova music festival. Ziv and Kozlov, who had just come to Israel from Russia, were working as security guards at the event.

Israeli officials said that hostages were rescued from two places in Nuseirat during the day. This happened while cease-fire talks were ongoing and while Israel was heavily attacking different parts of the Gaza Strip, including Nuseirat. The Gaza Government Media Office reported to Reuters on Saturday that at least 93 Palestinians were killed in airstrikes in the same area.

The U.S. praised the Israeli security services for their courageous action. national security adviser Jake Sullivan. He added that “the proposed deal would free all the remaining hostages, provide security for Israel, and offer help to innocent people in Gaza.”

On Thursday, the Israeli military bombed a United Nations school in Nuseirat that was being used as a shelter. The attack killed at least 33 people, including 12 women and children, according to the U.N.

Around 1,200 people were killed, and 250 were taken captive in Hamas’ attack on October 7. The Israeli government believes over 130 hostages are still in Gaza, with a quarter likely dead. Gaza officials report that Israel’s attacks have killed at least 36,000 people, including more than 15,000 children, and injured over 83,000.
