NEET-UG 2024 Results Updated: NTA Releases Revised Scores Following Supreme Court Order

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has just updated the NEET-UG 2024 results and announced the top scorers. This comes after the Supreme Court’s ruling on Tuesday that canceled the extra marks awarded to some students for a Physics question.

Originally, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had planned to award extra marks to students who had answered questions incorrectly due to a mistake in their old Class 12 NCERT Science textbook. However, on Tuesday, the Supreme Court ruled that only one correct answer would be accepted and no extra marks would be awarded for other answers.

A student pointed out that “Question No. 29” in the Physics section had two possible correct answers, even though only one should have been correct. After reviewing the issue with IIT Delhi, the Supreme Court decided that only answer option No. 4 would be considered correct for awarding marks.

Due to this change, students who had initially scored 720 out of 720 marks will now lose four marks.

The court has rejected multiple requests to cancel and retake the NEET UG 2024 exam. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said there was no evidence of ‘systematic’ leaks or other problems in the exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been at the center of political controversy and student protests due to claims of large-scale cheating during the NEET-UG exam on May 5. The allegations include question paper leaks and impersonation.

13,31,321 female candidates, 9,96,393 male candidates, and 17 transgender candidates appeared in the examination.
