Heavy Rains Disrupt Mumbai: Train Services Halted, Schools Closed

On Monday, Mumbai and surrounding areas received the heaviest rainfall in 24 hours. This led to many problems in the city.

The rain was very heavy. Some areas of Mumbai received more than 300 mm of rain in just six hours. This happened between 1 am and 7 am on Monday.

The weather department, called IMD, warned of heavy rain. They issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Konkan regions. This means that people should be very cautious.

Due to the rain, the roads were flooded with a lot of water. People had to walk through deep water. There were long lines of vehicles on the roads.

Due to the rains, all schools and colleges in Mumbai have been closed. This includes government, private, and city-run schools.

Rail services, which are used by many people every day, also faced major disruptions. More than 30 lakh people use these trains daily in Mumbai and surrounding areas. The tracks were submerged in water at some railway stations. People had to wait for trains in flooded areas.

Trains could not run between two stations named Kasara and Titwala in Thane district. This happened because mud had covered the railway tracks. This made it unsafe to use the tracks.

The Meteorological Department said that there will be heavy rain throughout the day. They also said that if the rain stops for two hours, the water on the roads may be reduced.

The sea waves are expected to be very high, around 4.4 meters high, around 2 pm.

Many trains had to change their route or be stopped due to flooding on the tracks.

NDRF (National Emergency Response Force) teams are working in many areas. They rescued 49 people from a flooded resort in Thane. They also helped 16 people in Palghar. They used boats and special jackets to rescue people stranded in the water.

This rain has caused a lot of trouble for Mumbai. People are finding it difficult to move around in the city. The government and rescue teams are working to help keep everyone safe.
