The incident happened on Sunday, only two days after he turned 26.
Jones was staying at a Holiday Inn in Tampa after he was told to leave an Airbnb where he was partying. His lawyer, Lewis Fusco, said that the rapper was unexpectedly attacked in the hotel parking lot, as reported by the weeklywakeup.
Police said someone was killed by shooting and they are watching video, but they have not arrested anyone.
Before the shooting, Jones posted on Instagram about his birthday party at a pool in an Airbnb.
Rapper Julio Foolio had more than 1 million followers on Instagram.
The party, which was promoted a lot on social media, had the police come because Jones was told to leave. Fusco said Jones first stayed at the Airbnb but had to move because too many people were there.
