The Realme GT Neo 5 was released in February last year, featuring up to 240W fast charging. This technology can fully charge the battery from zero to 100 percent in less than 10 minutes. Now, Realme is stepping up its game with new charging technology. A senior executive from Realme has confirmed that the company is working on 300W charging for future smartphone models. Notably, Xiaomi, a major competitor, showcased its 300W fast charging technology last year.
Realme’s 300W Charging Technology
In an interview with The Tech Chap on YouTube, Francis Wong, CEO of Realme Europe and Global Marketing Director, confirmed that Realme is testing 300W charging. This will help Realme compete with Xiaomi, which is also developing similar fast-charging technology.
Last February, Redmi showed off 300W charging using a modified Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition smartphone with a 4,100mAh battery. This technology charged the battery in less than five minutes. However, the company has not yet released a phone that supports 300W fast charging.
Realme’s GT Neo 5 features 240W charging technology. It can charge its 4,600mAh battery from zero to 20% in just 80 seconds, from zero to 50% in four minutes, and from zero to 100% in under 10 minutes. With just 30 seconds of charging, you can get up to two hours of talk time.
The Realme GT Neo 5 was launched with a starting price of CNY 3,199 (about Rs. 39,000). It comes with a 6.74-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen that has a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. It features a triple rear camera system with a 50-megapixel main sensor, and a 16-megapixel front camera, and offers up to 1TB of storage.
