Qualcomm is expected to announce new Snapdragon X series chips at the IFA Berlin tech event.
Snapdragon X PCs to Drop Rs 30,000 by 2025
Qualcomm has introduced high-performance Windows laptops called Copilot+ PCs. These laptops offer advanced AI features, strong performance, and long battery life, but they are quite expensive, starting at around $1,000 or Rs 90,000. However, Qualcomm has announced that the price of these Snapdragon X-powered laptops will drop to $700 or Rs 60,000 early next year, making them more affordable by about Rs 30,000.
During Qualcomm’s recent Q3 2024 earnings call, CEO Cristiano Amon mentioned that in 2025, they plan to introduce new products in their X series that will be powerful enough for PCs, even those priced as low as $700, without sacrificing performance for tasks like AI processing.
Qualcomm is making big strides in both the PC and smartphone markets. Their smartphone chip sales have gone up by 12% compared to last year. Qualcomm’s CEO, Cristiano Amon, predicts that by 2027, half of all PCs will be powered by AI, and Qualcomm will be a leading supplier of chips for these devices. Many top Android smartphones, like the Galaxy Z Fold6, already use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips.

At a recent event in New Delhi, Qualcomm shared that it will announce new Snapdragon X series chips at the upcoming IFA exhibition in Berlin. These new chips are expected to be used in future AI-powered PCs, which could be more affordable than the ones currently available. Qualcomm also introduced the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, a chip designed for budget-friendly 5G smartphones priced under $99 or Rs 9,999 in India.
Qualcomm makes chips for many devices, like smartphones, laptops, and smart VR headsets like the Meta Quest 3. They also supply the 5G modems used in Apple iPhones and iPads. Besides making chips, Qualcomm earns money from its patents and designs. The company has design centers around the world, including in India, and works with manufacturers like TSMC and Samsung to produce their chips.
