OnePlus offers free screen replacements for select phones
OnePlus is taking steps to fix a common problem with AMOLED screens by offering free screen replacements for certain phone models. This problem, known as the green line issue, is a hardware defect that some people mistakenly believe is caused by a software update.
Unlike other companies, OnePlus is being proactive by launching a display replacement program through its Red Cable Club loyalty initiative. The program aims to help customers resolve the issue.
A user on X (formerly known as Twitter), whose handle name is Starcommander, found an offer in the Red Cable Club section of OnePlus phones. OnePlus is offering free screen upgrades for users facing display issues.
The offer is available for users of the OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R. The device must not have any damage or unauthorized repairs to be eligible. People in India can avail of this offer through the Red Cable Club section in the Settings menu on their OnePlus phones.

OnePlus told Android Authority that the initiative has three levels of service. The first level is “comprehensive diagnostics,” which includes a detailed screen performance and reliability check.
The second service is screen upgrade and replacement. Eligible users will get a new and upgraded display panel. These screens are designed to show vibrant colours and be more durable. The company says they also work well in high humidity and temperatures.
The third service is “Deep Cleaning”, where OnePlus cleans your device completely free of charge.

OnePlus has worked with its suppliers to create new screen technology for older devices that are no longer available in the market. These new screens are designed to be more resistant to moisture and other environmental factors. According to the company, this will give users a longer-lasting and better experience.
The company said, “Visit our service center to check if your device is at risk. If your device has been damaged by drops or liquids, it will not be eligible for this free upgrade. In that case, you should get it repaired through our regular after-sales service.”
