Apple Launches Kids’ Apple Watch in India with Texting, Calling, and Activity Tracking Features Without iPhone
Apple has launched “Apple Watch for Kids” in India, extending the features and safety options of the Apple Watch to children and family members who don’t have an iPhone. The feature is available on the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 4 and later models. It allows parents to stay in touch with their children and give them some independence.
Key Features and Benefits
Communication: Kids can call and message their approved contacts, allowing them to stay in touch. Parents can manage who these contacts are
Health and fitness: Personalized activity goals help people stay active, and health features like Emergency SOS provide peace of mind.
Location Tracking: Parents can easily keep track of their child’s location using the Find People app and receive customized notifications about their whereabouts.
App Store access: Kids can use their smartwatch to access age-appropriate apps from the App Store, and parental controls are also available to ensure safety.
Schooltime Mode: This special mode helps reduce distractions during school hours by limiting access to certain apps and turning on Do Not Disturb.
How it Works
Parents can set up an Apple Watch for their child using their own iPhone and a separate cellular plan for the Watch. The child will have their own Apple ID, allowing them to access features such as calendars, reminders, and photo albums synced from the parent’s iPhone.

Content Restrictions: Parents can control which apps their children download and set limits using the Content Restrictions and Ask to Buy features.
Sharing health data: Parents can view their child’s health and activity data on the Health app on their iPhone, but only if they have permission.
Availability
Apple Watch for Kids is available in India with the Apple Watch Series 4 or later and the cellular model of the Apple Watch SE. To set it up, you’ll need a compatible iPhone (iPhone 6s or later). Cellular connectivity requires a wireless service plan from a supported carrier, which is currently only available through Jio.
