Kate Kaufling, who was 20 years old, passed away on Sunday after fighting osteosarcoma, a kind of bone cancer, as reported by UK Athletics.

A member of the University of Kentucky dance team who was battling cancer passed away over the weekend, according to school officials.

Kate Kaufling, who had bone cancer called osteosarcoma, passed away on Sunday. She was 20 years old, as announced by UK Athletics on Monday.

Last autumn, Kaufling, who is in her second year of college, and her twin sister, Abbey, both joined the college’s dance team.

According to dance coach Dawn Walters, Kaufling was highly regarded by her team and served as a source of inspiration for other dancers due to her remarkable strength and courage.

“Kate was a wonderful person to coach and spend time with. Her smile was so bright and everyone on her team loved her. She was really brave all the way to the end, and we can all learn from how she fought so courageously.”

The university’s sports department said Kaufling did really well as a dancer and also put in a lot of effort in their studies.

“Kate was a fantastic student in nursing school. She worked hard on her studies and even when she was getting treatment for cancer, she didn’t let it stop her from keeping up with her schoolwork. She served as an admirable role model for her teammates. Everyone who knew Kate loved her a lot, and we’ll really miss her.”

Kaufling’s family includes her parents, Holly and Steve Kaufling, and her sister Abbey, according to UK Athletics.
